Is Granite Long Lasting?

Is Granite porous?
Some more porous granites can be waterproofed during the industrial process of manufacturing and/or installing them. On certain granite floors or granite countertops, if not properly sealed, it can be porous to some extent.

How heat resistant is Granite?
Granite is not affected by exposure to common heat sources outside. Granite is heat resistant up to a temperature between 150°C and 200°C; it will be difficult to see breaks or cracks in specific situations of extreme temperatures; however, after some time, small cracks may appear, which reduces resistance.

At home, granite is also unaffected by exposure to common heat sources. To avoid possible damage, avoid extreme temperature changes, such as placing something cold in a granite area right after placing something hot in that area.

Unpolished granite is not slippery when used in paving. Highly polished (shiny) granite slabs can become slippery when wet.
